About Upcite

What is Upcite?

Upcite is a Dutch GEO tool for marketing agencies. Agencies use it to measure how often their clients are mentioned in language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, using a fixed and verifiable measurement method.

Who is Upcite for?

For marketing agencies and freelance marketers who want to help their clients with GEO. Business owners who want to measure their own visibility can use Upcite themselves too.

Is Upcite.io the same as Upcite.ai?

No. Upcite.io is a Dutch GEO tool from Maastricht and is not related to other companies with a similar name.

What is GEO?

GEO stands for generative engine optimization. The goal is for a company to be mentioned in the answers of language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO aims for a high position in Google's list of search results. GEO aims for a mention in the answer a language model composes itself. A company can rank high in Google and still be missing from that answer.

Measuring

Which language models does Upcite measure?

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, four times a month. We measure Claude once a month.

How often does Upcite measure?

Every client gets four measurement rounds per month on five AI systems and one measurement round in Claude. In every round we ask all 50 measurement questions again.

Why is my client's name not in the measurement question?

We want to know whether a language model mentions your client on its own. A question containing the company name only measures whether the language model recognises the name.

Why do the answers differ each time?

A language model does not always give the same answer to the same question. That is why Upcite asks every question several times and shows how large those differences are.

Can I measure in English?

Yes. The measurement questions are then asked in English. A translation of a Dutch measurement is not a new measurement.

Does Upcite guarantee that my client will be mentioned?

No. Upcite measures visibility and shows what you can improve. No tool can guarantee a mention in a language model.

For agencies

Can I share reports in my own branding?

You share reports and a client page per client via a link. You build your own reporting dashboard per client, with your own logo and colours in Agency.

Can I work in Upcite with my team?

Yes. Basic has 1 team member. Team and Agency have unlimited team members, up to 50 per workspace. The owner counts as a member. Clients with guest access only see their own client environment and do not count.

Does Upcite connect to my task tool?

Yes. Tasks from At work end up in your own task tool, starting with ClickUp, with one list per client.

Pricing and account

What does Upcite cost?

Basic costs €59, Team €149 and Agency €349 per month, excluding VAT. An extra client slot costs €35 per month. Pay annually and get 10% off.

Can I try Upcite for free?

Yes, for 7 days. If you start with iDEAL, your bank verifies your account with €0.01, which is refunded immediately.

What are credits?

Credits are the budget per workspace for keyword research and tracking Google positions. They are not a number of AI answers.

Can I pay with iDEAL?

Yes. You can also pay with SEPA Direct Debit, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bancontact, Revolut Pay and EPS.

Data

Where is my data stored?

Your account and measurement data are stored in a database in the European Union (Ireland). Payments run through Stripe; Upcite does not store card details.

What happens to my data when I stop?

For up to 30 days after your account ends you can export your data as CSV or JSON. No later than 90 days after the end we delete your account and client data; we keep invoices for 7 years because of the statutory tax retention obligation. We keep anonymised measurement results to improve the method and the question suggestions.
